Where do we begin? We are so privileged to live on a continent where our plant life is so vast and unique. Our native flora is wondrous in its diversity and has evolved over millennia to thrive and suit our Australian conditions. Introducing native plant species to your garden will attract an abundance of insect life, beneficial insects, native butterflies and all of course all kinds of birdlife. Your garden can become a mini habitat and in turn link up with others in the neighborhood to become part of a larger network of living habitats.
Our knowledgeable staff are on hand to help select Native Australian Plants suitable for your particular conditions: this includes discussing local rainfall, soil type, aspect and site amongst other things.
Small, medium or large shrubs, trees, ground covers and climbers….bird attracting, long flowering, coastal, inland, acidic or alkaline soil tolerant, shade or full sun or a bit of both. There is a surprising variety of plants to choose from including the popular species such as Grevillea, Banksia, Eucalyptus, Hakea, Correa and just so many others.
The interest in Bush Tucker Plants has increased in recent years. As they have grown in popularity, we here at the Nursery are endeavouring to both source and grow ourselves a range of these plants.
We have been experimenting with the propagation of Native Limes and we hope to have these available on hardy rootstock in the very near future. Some of the plants we have been able to source include Cinnamon Myrtle, Lemon Myrtle, Aniseed Myrtle, Muntries (Kunzea pomifera), Native Limes, Saltbushes, Mountain Pepper Berries, Native Raspberry, Yam Daisy, Sea Parsley, Native Spinach and Macadamia nuts.
The medicinal and culinary uses of these wonderful plants are just beginning to be understood by mainstream Australia, even though their properties have been known and passed on throughout the generations by our traditional land owners.
