We stock a large range of ornamental trees
We stock a large range of ornamental trees. They are available all year round but during winter we receive our new season’s stock and this is a very exciting time to visit us and plan for your next planting!
Perhaps you can’t imagine you have space in your garden for a “Statement Tree”… but today there are so many cultivars, displaying more compact growing habits or have been specifically developed for narrow spaces, that there is surely a tree to suit your needs. Making a focal point of a striking specimen tree can be simple.
Create interest in your garden with ornamental trees that give year round beauty. By planting a deciduous tree you have switched on your very own nature channel….there is something to watch and enjoy all year round. Gaze at the intricate structure of silhouetted branches in Winter and then marvel as the first plump buds begin to appear. In Spring, fresh new coats of leaves emerge and it is also the time to enjoy the stunning floral displays which often last into the summer months.
Many ornamental trees are grown for the sheer joy of Spring time alone….the flowering plums (Prunus sp.), Crab Apples, (Malus sp.) and Lilacs (Syringia sp) are especially renowned for producing masses of blooms, in all hues; attracting bees and beneficial insects. Your garden can really come to life with the addition of a well chosen specimen tree. Autumn completes the season and many ornamental varieties put on a spectacular show when the leaves turn golden yellow, red, orange and everything in between….nature’s fireworks! Think Manchurian Pears, (Pyrus sp.), and Crepe Myrtles (Lagerstromia sp.)
Ornamental trees are often planted for their ability to provide cooling shade for our gardens and homes. Sitting under the dappled canopy of a green, leafy tree – especially in our hot, dry South Australian Summers – is such a simple pleasure. With the right choice of tree this is very achievable.
Some of our most recognisable leaf shapes come from those iconic ornamentals such as the Maple (Acer sp.), the Oak (Quercus sp.) and the Liquidamber sp. And the feathery foliage of the Gleditsia sp. and Robinia sp. bring a delicate, light canopy suitable for underplanting.
Weeping Ornamental trees, with their stylish growth habit are often the perfect choice for a small garden or as a striking feature tree. Their cascading form brings a classical and graceful structural element to any garden.
